One. Hundred. Shows.
Even as I type the body of this blog post, I can't really comprehend the impact. In complete honesty, I never thought that this podcast would get to show #100. Not that the number is so very high (other film photography podcasts have published several hundred shows in much less time than the eight years that the UJC Podcast has existed.) I simply didn't think that there would be an audience for it for multiple reasons (we discuss this in the show, so I won't go into it here.) But here we are.
So very much has changed. Film photography itself has gone through much change and, somehow, continues to survive and even thrive today. Both Wayne and I have experienced changes in not only the cameras we shoot but also the way we shoot. And even the podcast itself has changed in some ways.
The continuity that can be found in Uncle Jonesy's Cameras was made clear to me when, in preparation for the recording of Show #100, I listened to show #1 for the first time since it was published on September 3, 2018 (you can find it here.) It was a bit strange to hear Kelley's and my voices discussing what we had recently learned about shooting and developing film and how we thought our discussions could possibly help others who are just beginning their film photography journey. Wayne joined the podcast with show #42, but little else has changed. We learn, we teach, and our listeners teach us.
Getting to a hundred episodes is something of which I am proud, but what really excites me is the future of the podcast. There is still so much I have to learn about photography and still so many experiences waiting ahead. And just over a week from today comes our 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers. To be able to have a hand in such a remarkable event as this is as rewarding as the podcast itself. On Saturday, October 24, a group of like minded photography enthusiasts will gather together in Huntsville, Alabama for a day of picture making, fellowship, food, and fun. We will see old friends and meet new ones, and hopefully everyone will go home with a roll of exposed film and some good stories to tell. If you're reading this and October 24 has not yet passed by, I hope you will make every effort to be a part of this memorable gathering. You can find all the details here.
In show #100 we read some great listener email and I related some of the experiences I had while visiting Ireland with my wife, Debbie. It was impossible for me to fully describe the joy I had in finally making it to a place I have dreamed about for over thirty years, and I won't try to write about it here. I am planning to publish a future series about Ireland soon, but here is one photograph I took while there.

So, there it is, one hundred shows and the hope for a hundred more. And the best part of it all? You listeners. Without you, the Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast would not exist today. Your participation as a listener, your contributions by email, and your financial support through Ko-fi - all these things keep Wayne and I making show for you. Than you!
Happy Photography, everyone! Now go get some good pictures.
